2 Peter (2019)

2 Peter (2019)

May 2019 - March 2020

“Fake News” has become an often-used term since the 2016 election in the USA. In the days of the early church, the problem became fake teachers. Fake teachers taught fake doctrine, fake theology. Fake teaching and fake theology lead to an impotent and phony spiritual life—a pseudo spirituality which has eternal consequences for the individual.

In this short epistle Peter warns of the soon-to-come false teachers in the churches who will lead people astray and will destroy spiritual lives and churches. However, before he developed that theme, he first reminded his readers of the foundation of faith, that they might be forearmed to stand against the Satanic counterfeits that would soon come and then, as now, take captive those believers who were still willingly in bondage to their sin natures. This study will open your eyes to the dangers and deceptions Satan instigates and the only true solution, growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Hear how these words have been interpreted over the years. See that Paul used these words in different ways in his various epistles. The take away from this lesson should be that we need to take time to learn biblical knowledge and as we walk by means of the Holy Spirit, we can learn to apply it leading to spiritual growth.

Passage: Revelation 3:4-6
Series: 2 Peter (2019)
Duration: 1 hr 7 mins 36 secs

Though I could not be there tonight, this lesson is an important background for what I am teaching in 2 Peter 1:11, which speaks of our entrance into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The overcomer is celebrated in his entry into the kingdom for the fact that he overcame the world in his spiritual life on the earth and was richly rewarded.

Are all believers overcomers or is that title reserved only for those who meet certain qualifications? Listen to this lesson to learn what an overcomer is and see it involves what decisions we make after we are saved. Find out there are two classes of believers and only those who advance in the spiritual life will receive rewards at the Judgment Seat of Christ. Accept the challenge in your own life of sticking with learning God’s Word and walking by means of the Holy Spirit so you can become an overcomer.

Passage: 2 Peter 1:12-15
Series: 2 Peter (2019)
Duration: 1 hr 8 mins 21 secs
The last words and messages of famous people are often studied for the wisdom they reveal. Listen to this lesson to learn what the Apostle Peter wanted believers to remember as he revealed his coming death. See that he wanted to remind them over and over of Biblical truths. Find out how he established his veracity by pointing out that he wasn’t just telling made-up fables to them but rather he had actually heard God’s voice and had been an eyewitness of the Lord Jesus Christ’s life on this earth. As believers when we hear the truth of God’s Word repeated, it should stir us up to serve Him during our time on earth.
