Duration: 1 hr 1 mins 38 secs
What do the battles in the Old Testament have to do with us? Listen to this lesson to learn that they stand for the spiritual warfare we face in our own lives. Follow what happened to King Saul when he engaged in a battle with the Philistines and how the people panicked and hid in caves and anywhere they could find a hole. See that Saul also panicked and refused to wait for the Lord, offering a sacrifice outside the will of God. Hear the punishment Samuel announces on Saul for this act of disobedience. Understand that we are to obey God out of love for Him, and not in legalism.

Does God ever regret or become sorry for anything? Listen to this lesson to learn that God never changes and when Scripture applies certain figures of speech to God, it is to help us understand His policies. Hear Saul’s rationalizations for disobeying God and how we all have arrogance skills we need to confess. Understand that God prefers obedience from us rather than our sacrifices or going through rituals.

Is there a pattern we can follow when we find ourselves in severe pressures and adversity? Listen to this lesson to learn that Jesus set the pattern for believers in the Garden of Gethsemane. Find out that even though Jesus was impeccable, without sin, He still had human emotions. Learn that He never chose to go against God the Father’s will. Realize that we face a choice like His. Will we operate independently of the Father’s will or will we trust God and apply His Word?

Also includes Luke 22:39-46

Is it legalism when we are told we should obey the commands of God found in the Bible? Listen to this lesson to learn that obeying God’s commands should be done willingly as a resposne to God's grace and not to merit God’s blessings. Learn the importance of learning to deny our selfish desires and walk by means of the Spirit. Find out about four categories of believers who give excuses why they can’t become disciples. Challenge yourself to become a committed, consistent disciple for all of your life.
