In the last couple of years the secular community and some in the religious community have woken up to the fact that much of the American Evangelical community is very supportive of the modern state of Israel. Guess what? They do not like it one bit! They see an ever increasing danger and even the possibility that Christian Zionism could bring about World War III. ...

Passage: Revelation
Series: 2008 Chafer Theological Seminary Bible Conference
Duration: 1 hr 1 mins 51 secs
Revelation 3:10 is rightly know as a passage that supports the pre-trib rapture doctrine, but the second half of the verse introduces us to the first use of the term “earth dwellers.” “Because you have kept the word of My perseverance, I also will keep you from the hour of testing, that hour which is about to come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell upon the earth.” 3:10 is the first use in Revelation of a phrase I call “earth dwellers” but usually translated “those who dwell upon the earth.” This phrase is used eleven times in nine verses in Revelation (3:10; 6:10; 8:13; 11:10 2xs; 13:8, 12, 14 2xs; 14:6; 17:8). A preliminary working definition is that “earth dwellers” is a designation for persistent unbelievers during the tribulation. ...

A couple of years ago Mark Hitchcock and I wrote a book interacting with Hank Hanegraaff of Bible Answer Man fame entitled Breaking The Apocalypse Code. The reason we wrote the book is because Hanegraaff mentioned Tim LaHaye about 350 times in his book. I don’t recall if any of them were in a good light. Hanegraaff’s book Breaking the Apocalypse Code professed to be a book that would lay out the correct method for interpreting the Book of Revelation. Needless to say to this group, I was not impressed. In fact, I believe that if his method were followed, it would set hermeneutics back 500 years. ...

Dispensationalism is a system of theology (not a hermeneutical approach) that believes the Bible teaches God’s single plan for history is accomplished through Israel and the church for the purpose of His glorification. This theology arises from a consistent use of the grammatical-historical hermeneutic, also known as literal interpretation. While salvation of mankind is of extreme importance, it is accomplished within the broader purpose of the glorification of God, which is demonstrated through the various administrations of dispensational arrangements of history and also encompasses the angelic realm. Jesus Christ is the hero of history by leaving heaven and humbling Himself as a Man, winning the victory at the cross, rising from the dead, ascending to heaven, taking His bride at the Rapture, returning triumphantly at the Second Coming, and reigning for a thousand years from Jerusalem. Traditional dispensationalism attempts to systematize biblical teaching for the purpose of glorifying God through Jesus Christ. History is seen as a progression of ages in which God tests mankind, man always fails, and God judges humanity, but always provides a grace to the elect.
