Passage: 1 Samuel 21:10-15 & Psalm 56
Series: 1st and 2nd Samuel (2015)
Duration: 1 hr 4 mins 5 secs
Have you ever been in what looked like a hopeless situation with no way out? Listen to this lesson to hear about a time when David was pressed on all sides but he turned to God and cried out to be rescued. He trusted God’s mercy instead of giving in to his fears. See that in our prayers we need to remind God what we know about Him and how He has promised to help us. Understand it’s not that our fears go away. We can learn to live above fear and let God’s Word change our focus. In times like this turn to the Psalms for maximum peace and joy.

Passage: 1 Samuel 22:1 & Psalm 57:2-11
Series: 1st and 2nd Samuel (2015)
Duration: 1 hr 1 mins 32 secs

Over and over in the Bible we are told to trust God. How do we do that? Listen to this lesson to hear four things we need to do to start down the path of relying on God for everything. See that we must switch our thinking from focusing on our problems to God’s loving kindnesses by reading in the Psalms about God’s wonderful works as expressed through His names. When we truly trust God we can rest and relax because we know that God has a plan and He’s carrying it out and we have nothing to fear.

During this class Dr. Dean mentioned a new book authored by Dr. Thomas Ice called The Case for Zionism: Why Christians Should Support Israel.

Passage: Psalm 143:1-12
Series: 1st and 2nd Samuel (2015)
Duration: 1 hr 2 mins 8 secs
When we’re in a period of deep mourning we should turn to Psalms for ways to pray and seek comfort from God. Listen to this lesson to hear one of David’s psalms that demonstrates this. Focusing on God’s truth gives us the stability we desperately need in difficult times. Find out that we need to remember God has poured out His grace on people from the beginning. This requires us to have learned the content of the Word of God before troubles come.

Passage: Psalm 89:38-52
Series: 1st and 2nd Samuel (2015)
Duration: 1 hr 2 mins 40 secs
How honest are you when you pray? Listen to this lesson to hear about a psalmist who expresses his frustration over what is happening and asks God if He’s going to keep His promises. He wonders why the nation is under divine discipline and points out that they are a reproach to God’s name. As he expresses his unhappiness, he petitions God to change the circumstances. See how he recovers and expresses once more his understanding of God’s Word. When we are in a situation like that, we need to remember to trust God and His promises, which can be hindered by our disobedience but are never cancelled.

Passage: Psalm 64:1-10
Series: 1st and 2nd Samuel (2015)
Duration: 57 mins 49 secs
How can we stop being afraid in times of disaster? Listen to this lesson to learn that trusting in God is always the solution to fear. Hear some of the attacks on David discussed in Psalm 64 and how his enemies are gloating. See that God is going to turn the tables on these wicked people. Find out the difference between making foolish decisions and wise decisions in times of danger and be ready to explain the hope and confidence you have to those around you who are falling apart.
